HIV/AIDS Action Summit

 October 21st at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale, there will be an interactive event discussing HIV/AIDS and its impact across the world.

KPFK is a media sponsor for the HIV/ AIDS Summit in Glendale, each year AIDS experts, government officials, community outreach groups and medical students participate in discussions regarding the present status and a vision for the future of HIV/AIDS. This year speakers include; Dr. Alexandra Levine, M.D., M.A.C.P., Professor, City of Hope Hematologic Malignancies and Stem Cell Transplantation Institute; Dr. Norman & Melinda Payson Professor in Medicine and Dr. Leo Moore, Associate Medical Director/Clinical Prevention Specialist Division of HIV and STD Programs. 

The summit will feature workshops on the history of HIV/AIDS, public health policy, the spread of AIDS through communities of color and strategized on how non-profits can pool resources to combat the growing HIV positive communities during times of fiscal crisis and uncertainty.
