More Information (KPFK 90.7 FM is not responsible for external websites)
Rock ‘n’ Roll pioneers, Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly perform on stage together for the first time. The Rock ‘N’ Roll Dreams Tour will feature re-mastered audio from both legends alongside a live band and back up singers coming together in one mesmerizing night of performances.
Roy Orbison’s first hit was his own composition “Only The Lonely,” which climbed to a #2 spot on the Billboard Singles chart. “Only The Lonely” has since been deemed a pivotal force in the development of rock music. Between 1960 and 1965, Orbison recorded nine Top 10 hits and another ten that broke into the Top 40. These included “Running Scared,” “Crying,” “It’s Over” and “Oh, Pretty Woman.” Orbison was part of the all-star supergroup, along with Bob Dylan, George Harrison and Jeff Lynn, and was induced into the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Orbison died from a heart attack in December, 1988.
Buddy Holly was a singer/songwriter whose records, conveying a sense of the wide-open spaces of West Texas and unstoppable joie de vivre, remain vital today.
Buddy Holly wrote his breakthrough hit, “That’ll Be The Day,” in 1957. Between August 1957 and August 1958 Buddy Holly & The Crickets charted seven different Top 40 singles, including “Well All Right,” “Words Of Love,” “Peggy Sue,” “Maybe Baby,” “It’s So Easy,” and more. Holly died tragically in a private plane crash, along with entertainers Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper, at the young age of 22.
This cutting edge holographic performance and re-mastered audio will transport audiences back in time for an unforgettable evening of Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly’s greatest hits onstage.
This once-in-a-lifetime show will be between 75 and 90 minutes of Rock and Roll magic.
