Due to the electric service cutting the power at the Mount Wilson transmission sites, KPFK will not be able to broadcast until the generator is fully functional or the power is restored. We are working on the issue.
KPFK has been off the air since Thursday afternoon, January 16, 2025. Our team is working tirelessly to restore power and get us back on the airwaves.
The issue began when our back-up generator unexpectedly shut down due to a significant water leak in the cooling system. As of 5:00 PM today, our engineers are hard at work at Mt. Wilson, but it’s too dark to safely transport and install the new generator we’ve ordered.
At sunrise tomorrow, Saturday, January 18, our Chief Engineer Stuart Landau will meet the team on the mountain to get the generator running and connected to our transfer panel.
We deeply appreciate your patience during these challenging times. In the meantime, you can still tune in to our live stream at www.kpfk.org or directly via our player.
We’ll continue to keep you updated as we make progress. Thank you for your unwavering support of KPFK.
