AMOEBA MUSIC, THE WORLD'S BIGGEST AND BEST INDEPENDENT RECORD STORE, OPENS IN NEW LOCATION.  After much anticipation, hard work (and some Covid-era delays), Amoeba Music is excited to welcome fans to the world's best music and movie experience - still located in the heart of Hollywood.

 

The iconic independent record store will open its doors on April 1st at the newest iteration of Amoeba Hollywood – now at 6200 Hollywood Blvd. Amoeba Music’s new home is a huge, light-filled, ground-level space in the center of Hollywood. It’s a diverse and vibrant neighborhood that boasts historic and iconic venues like The Fonda Theatre and Pantages Theatre, as well as excellent eateries, hotels, retail and nightlife spots. Located on the corner of Hollywood and Argyle in El Centro, a residential and retail complex that opened in 2018, developed by DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners - it’s both a highly visible and easily accessible destination for locals and visitors alike. The new space features validated parking in the El Centro parking structure and is very convenient to public transportation with the Hollywood & Vine Metro rail stop across the street and the #217 bus stop one block West.

 

Opening day will include a special design created by L.A. artist Ivan Minsloff. Customers will get a limited edition poster as a gift with purchase and there will be live t-shirt silk-screening with our friends Family Industries in the courtyard of the El Centro complex from 11:30am until 4pm. T-shirts will be $10 and available while supplies last.

New location features: massive floor space highlighted by rainbow colored columns guiding you to different sections -- the huge vinyl, CD and DVD/Blu-ray sections; books and posters (on the mezzanine level); a large, curated t-shirt section featuring music, film, TV & pop culture tees; turntables and vinyl accessories; collectibles; enamel pins, patches, stickers & more. The building may be new but Amoeba’s personality shines through with visual flourishes like the color vinyl LP installation welcoming customers at the front door, the original Shepard Fairey mural created for the Amoeba stage, collage art in the book section and more.

 

Amoeba co-owner Jim Henderson:  “We are SO ready to safely re-open our doors to our amazingly supportive and loyal customers who have kept in touch with us during this unfathomable time. Nobody could have anticipated the challenges this year brought for the world and we’ve been eager to get back to what we do best – hosting the world’s biggest selection of music, movies and ephemera for the community of Los Angeles and beyond. We’ve missed seeing our staff and everyone who visits us in person more than we can express and look forward to starting our third decade in Hollywood in the new space and creating more memories together.”
